  • Standard ‘R’ Series Carbide Draw Dies

Standard ‘R’ Series Carbide Draw Dies

Standard ‘R’ Series draw dies are industry standard O.D. and length carbide draw die inserts. We can provide them in standard industry O.D. and length cases, tapered cases, custom cases, or carbide insert only.

  • High Nib ‘R’ Series Carbide Draw Dies

High Nib ‘R’ Series Carbide Draw Dies

High Nib ‘R’ Series draw dies are Industry standard O.D. inserts with extended lengths for when longer approach angles or longer bearing lengths are needed. We can provide them in standard industry O.D. and length cases, tapered cases, custom cases, or carbide insert only.

  • Large Carbide Draw Dies

    Large Carbide Draw Dies

Large Carbide Draw Dies for bar and tube drawing are manufactured to Miller Midwestern Design or customer specifications. We can provide them in standard straight O.D. cases, tapered cases, custom cases, or carbide insert only.

  • Standard ‘R’ Series Rough Cored Draw Dies

Standard ‘R’ Series Rough Cored Draw Dies

Miller Midwestern caries a large inventory of standard 12° and 16° rough cored ‘R’ Series draw dies every 0.010” so you don’t have to waste time grinding excess stock out of your rough cored draw dies to get to your finished size.

  • Rough Cored EDM Blanks

    Rough Cored EDM Blanks

EDM Blanks are Standard ‘R’ Series & High Nib ‘R’ Series Draw Die O.D. & Length Nibs With 0.025” – 0.035” I.D. Wire Start Holes.

  • CVD Coated Carbide Draw Dies

    CVD Coated Carbide Draw Dies

We recommend our Multi-layer TiN/TiCN/TiC/TiN CVD coated carbide drawing dies. This multi-layer CVD coating has excellent bonding properties that make it a great choice for heavy load applications and longer runs. It will increase die life and reduces galling.

What Is CVD Coating?

Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) is an atmosphere-controlled process conducted at elevated temperatures (~1925° F) in a CVD reactor. During this process, thin-film coatings are formed as the result of reactions between various gaseous phases and the heated surface of the carbide within the CVD reactor. As different gases are transported through the reactor, distinct coating layers are formed on the tooling substrate.  The final product of these reactions is a hard, wear-resistant coating that exhibits a chemical and metallurgical bond to the carbide. Generally speaking, CVD coating is sometimes referred to as a High Rockwell Lubricant with a high micro-hardness (2400-3400 HV), typically in excess of 80 HRc, and it typically exhibits a low coefficient of friction of 0.15 to 0.35.  CVD is an additive process, with an average thickness of 0.006 mm – 0.009 mm, or 0.00024” to 0.00035”.

ROUND DRAWING DIE SPECIFICATIONS

The maximum I.D. size for industry standard round die inserts are only to be used as a general guide and may vary depending on drafts taken and the material being drawn. High nibs are generally used in connection with heavy drafts or where longer bearings are needed. Also, case sizes we recommend are customizable to meet our customers’ needs.
